A RURAL ESCAPE
FOR YOUR FAMILY and FRIENDS
Vantage Point Guest House is located in Shoreham, Vermont. It is owned by Jennifer and Jeff Reed, who live in the house next door. Privacy, peace and quiet abound as it is located on 27 acres of meadows and woods and a ridge that overlooks Lake Champlain. It has incredible views of the Adirondacks and nearby Champlain Orchards. The property also has a small Christmas Tree Farm and chickens (no rooster!).

The Reeds named their property Vantage Point after the famous poem with the same name by Robert Frost. The property has an exceptional "vantage point" displaying God's glorious creation. The lake, mountains, meadows, orchards and sugar bush (maple trees), big sky above and brilliant star-gazing opportunities make this guest house a unique retreat!

Vantage Point is directly across from Fort Ticonderoga, NY and just a short, fun ferry ride away!

The Reeds moved to Vermont from Maryland in October 2016. They began an extensive renovation project on both the guest house and main house. Both houses have been completely repainted inside out. The guest house has new carpet, a fixed roof, and a new second floor bedroom. The guest house sleeps six with a queen bed in the main bedroom, two twins (bunk beds) in the upstairs bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the second living room.

Amenities: Newly renovated bathroom (2019) with walk-in shower, new vanity, new toilet, radiant floor heat. Plush towels, hair dryer, soap, facial wipes, travel size shampoos, disposable toothbrushes. Stacked washer and dryer. Laundry detergent. Extra set of linens for all beds, extra pillows. There is a high chair, travel play/crib, bibs, blankets/sheets, children's books and board games. Main bedroom and the Red Room have a mini split heat pump system and provides A/C too.

The guest house kitchen comes with a set of dishes, bowls and a full set of flatware, glassware, mugs and cooking utensils. It has a full fridge, dishwasher, microwave and gas stove/oven, crock pot, toaster and a Keurig single coffee maker with K-pods (Green Mountain coffee). The kitchen also has mixing bowls, cookie sheets and bakeware, pots and pans. Basic condiments/spices /salt/pepper are available as are fresh eggs.

The guest house has free wi-fi. Cell phone service can be "iffy". A small TV screen and DVD player with children's movies are available. The guest house has two living rooms, the second one called the Red Room has a gas stove for both heat and ambience. This room also has the sleeper sofa, a barn door for privacy and French doors leading to the back yard. Radiant heat in the floor keeps the guest house cozy during colder months.
Outside: A large deck offers mountain views and sitting area. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. A 1/2 mile walking trail takes you through the sugarbush. Visit our sugar shack where we boil maple sap every March. The Shoreham area is known for its apples and scenic bicycle routes and there is a boat launch just two miles away. There is ample parking for multiple cars.
