ATTRACTIONS

Vantage Point is centrally located on the west side of Vermont. We are located near Lake Champlain. During the summer months, we are just a short ferry ride to New York state and the Adirondack mountains. Day trips to Lake Placid, Plattsburgh and many historical sites along the New York side of Lake Champlain are feasible.

Vantage Point is also in driving distance to New Hampshire and Massachusetts as well as Canada. Montreal is about 3 hours away.

Summer is always beautiful in Vermont with warm days and cool nights. Hiking and sight seeing are favorite past-times and of course water sports on the lake are popular. A boat landing is easily accessible just a couple of miles from our guest house. Many people like to canoe, kayak and fish on the lake  as well. Consider a round of golf at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course Middlebury College or Neshobe Golf Club.

Fall is absolutely glorious in Vermont! As well, late summer early fall is apple-picking season. Our guest house is surrounded by apple orchards and two of the most well-known orchards, Douglas and Champlain Orchards are a mile up the road! Fall is a good time to consider hiking one of our local mountains- Snake Mountain (20 mins), or Mt. Philo (30 mins). Or check out Mt. Independence (10 mins) for some American Revolution history.

Embrace winters with winter sports like skiing! Vantage Point is about 45 minutes northeast of Killington and an hour and half from Stowe. Make a day trip to the mountains and then come back and warm up by the fire! Snowshoe our fields and back woods too!

Affectionately known as mud season, Spring in Vermont can be a little iffy. Of course late February into March is sugaring season. We have a sugar house on the property. See how maple syrup is made. Do some shopping in Middlebury and have dinner at one of the local restaurants. Hiking and sightseeing might also be good as places tend to be less crowded. Some of the mountains still have snow too!
